You Don’t Need to Say, for Me to Understand

Written by: Arleen
Date Written: October 22, 2008; 5:03 in the morning
at the boarding house

As I read your email
Inevitable to think
Those words of exaggerated merits of yourself
You to me displayed
“For thus your own country thou denied?”
Of bounteous blessings
Your lands of nation provides
For thy can’t deny
Other nations bring
“What more you can account for?”
Thus not of worldly things
Importance of life can be achieved
Perseverance for those who wait in time
And PATIENCE for few

You, of Little Faith

Written by: Arleen
Date Written: October 26, 2008, Sunday
At home; 10:09 in the morning

In this sequestered place
Where nature resides
Hardly have we deciphered
Spirits roam

In this place
Where nature provides
Shivering the body
The unfrigtened soul

And in this place
Where imagining occurs
Too extreme to think
The demons lore

This God-given place
Upon the eyes
The innocent two
Conquered the works of the evil

You, of little faith
Pictured by thousands
Ceased to believe the works
The Divine inherits

Thus with little faith
Kills the spirit

I Thank Thee

Written by: Arleen
Date Written: October 26, 2008, Sunday
At home; in the morning

I thank thee
For the gift of wisdom
The knowledge to understand
The deeper meaning of life

I thank thee
For the people
That surrounds me with love
That invites me in growing

I thank thee
For the experiences
Of ups and downs
That makes me a soldier of my soul

I thank thee
For the bountiful blessings
That makes me rich
In extending other people’s help

I thank thee
For the stroke of my pen
The words of emotions
That crafted through times

I thank thee
For the talents
That leads me to know
How important life is

I thank thee
For you
Who makes me realize
The pain of moving on

I thank thee
For the space
To live, to love, to be hurt
To fully know that I exist

The Passion of the Christ

Written by: Arleen
Date Written: October 31, 2008; 2:47 p.m. at home

29th of October
To a house of a friend
Where we dine, chat and laugh
A film to me did sigh

On that very moment
The Passion of the Christ
Did open my eyes
“If the world hates you, the world hated me first.”

That message strikes my heart
For I was not in solitude
To think that I have fallen down
His words awaken me

“If the world hates you, the world hated me first.”
Mark an outcast Human
Pressed by undaunted goings
Of many who chooses to be blind

Uplifted by these words
I was not alone
For I was one and that I felt
Eases to mend

In Times like These

Written by: Arleen
Date Written: October 31, 2008; 2:47 p.m. at home

Music utter its lovely songs
My favorites spark to sing
At home, I reminisce
Lovely things embark me

Unstoppable this pen
Print words of my choosing
One by one, piece by piece
Flashes in my mind

A craving of art
Fascinated through times
The talent in me

‘Till it grows

Fruits will bear

My Living Memory, a Sonnet

Written by: Arleen Jay R. Abucay

Date Written: October 31, 2008; 5:01 p.m. at home

When I consider how my life is spent

My days filled with joys, wide and free

And that one person who is extremely loved by me

Was taken away from me like my soul descend

Missing her is like every day’s absent

My only wish that she’s home returning

“Will God make me see her again more bent?”

I always ask. But be still, to ascend

That interrogating, God replies, “No need

for you to worry. She’s in Paradise with me. Be best.

Bear in one’s mind, you will do your best. For one’s stake,

Life is full of chances: many had lost

That over lands and seas without rest;

You stand and be merry.”

If I Choose to Live

If I Choose to Live

Written by: Arleen
Date Written: October 31, 2008; 5:23 p.m. at home

If I choose to live
I shall not live in a vain world
For this world displays material possessions
Thousands of us bear our mild yoke
As if a game in stake

If I choose to live
I live in a life of contentment
For the one main reason
Thousands of us survive
Unto His Nest finds light

I Praise Thee

Written by: Arleen
Date Written: November 01, 2008; Saturday
7:47 in the evening

The night dawns in sight
The sun chokes in slight
The streets hush
People in to rush

The mumness replenish
Surroundings relinquish
Coldness scattered
Not to be shattered

I, in sight
Pray tight
In my hands, rosary
I hold to carry

I ask Thee
To be glee
Free from malady
Noble with generosity

I pray Thee not for me
But for we
To be free
To love and be happy
