Valley of the Kings, Egypt

The Valley of the Kings lies on the west of the Nile River, near the ancient Egyptian city of Thebes. People have discovered more than 60 tombs. They were made more than 3,200 years ago.

Each tomb consists of corridors and rooms cut deep into solid rock. Sculptors and artists carved and painted religious signs and writing on walls. When a king dies, people laid his body inside a great stone coffin. They also left rich treasures for his use in an after-life.

Tombs had secret doors and deep pits to keep out robbers. In time, though, thieves plundered almost every tomb. Only one tomb remained intact. It belonged to Tutankhamun, a young, unimportant king yet its splendor astonished the archaeologists who found it.

According to legend, Atlantis was a powerful island kingdom that used to lie in the Atlantic Ocean. Then one day, it sank. Archaeologists think a real island gave risk to this legend.

The Greek philosopher Plato described Atlantis more than 2,300 years ago. Long before that, he declared, Atlantis had been a great island empire. Its armies overran many Mediterranean lands but were defeated by Athens. Later, earthquakes and floods struck Atlantis, and it sank swiftly under the sea. Many people have believed that this story is true. Some thought that Atlantis was really America, the Canary Islands or the Bahamas.

In the 1960s, Greek archaeologists discovered that an ancient civilization had once flourished on a volcanic island known as Thera, or Santorini, in the Aegean Sea. In about 1450 BC, the volcano exploded, destroying the civilization. It is possible that Thera was Atlantis.

Easter Island, South Pacific

Easter Island is a small, remote island is the South Pacific. It is famous for its mysterious giant stone heads and a strange writing system, both made by Stone Age people.

Easter Island lies 2,393 miles west of Chile and nearly half as far from Pitcairn, the nearest inhabited island.

Polynesians settled on Easter more than a thousand years ago. Their descendants built great stone burial platforms around the coast. On these they raised immense carved human heads, each weighing up to 50 tons. The Easter Islanders probably achieved this with just stone picks, ropes, ramps and pebble rollers. Easter Islanders also divided the rongorongon picture script, which no one can now decipher.

By 1872 wars, slave raids and disease had almost wiped out islanders. But legends and finds of ancient tools have helped archaeologists piece together some of the island's past.

Bermuda Triangle

The Bermuda Triangle is a popular name for a triangular patch of the Atlantic Ocean off the southeast United States. There are claims that many ships and planes have disappeared or met with unexplained accidents in the area of the triangle.

People disagree about the exact area of the triangle. Some suggest that its corners are formed by Florida and the islands of Bermuda and Puerto Rico.

More than 50 ships and 20 planes are said to have vanished inside the triangle. This is far more than you might expect for an area this size. In one disaster, five American bombers disappeared together in 1945. Tales also tell of crews missing from boats found with hot meals aboard.

Writers blame the disappearances of underwater volcanoes, strange forces or death rays from space. But storms, human error and mechanical faults have caused the incidents.

On a sandy beach at the bottom of the cliffs , there is a permanent seal colony, though unfortunately the numbers are considerably fewer than in earlier years.

There is a track down to the beach, but most people balk at the initial scramble over the cliff edge to reach the narrow ledge tucked under the cliff top from which the path starts. Once the main slope is reached, care must be taken as the ground is loose and crumbly. Cooper Creek, Near Lake Eyre, South Australia

Rarely does the Cooper empty its waters into Lake Eyre, and it is not the rain that falls in its mid-or lower- reaches that causes it to flow down this far, but abnormally heavy rains falling in southwest Queensland. Once it reaches the arid plains, the Cooper usually dries up, leaving a series of beautiful waterholes, many of them permanent. When it does come down in flood, its waters spread into a maze of shallow channels and billabongs, and for a time may cover the land for hundreds of kilometres - which is not uncommon occurrence in the vicinity of Innamincka, situated near the border in South Australia.

Speed makes you smarter.

"High-intensity workout can achieve better results because your body produces more dopamine and serotonin (brain neurotransmitters) by going harder," says Phil Campbell, MS. Thus, we can say that speed is a perfect complement between the brain and body. Moreover, some research suggests that such high-intensity training can increase the amount of catecholamines in the brain as well as in the body. Catesholamines, neurotransmittes found in the amino acid tyrosine, help the brain to stay sharp during prolonged work, sleep deprivation and other stressful situations. Associated with improved cognitive function in basic biology research, the catecholamine dopamine, for example, is a brain chemical needed for learning, motivation and motor skills.

Being single.

Why do people bother that until now I am still single. My work keeps me busy and blessed. This work which I love (teaching) makes me actively involved in school and it doesn't make me think of focusing about relationships or even marriage. I am happy of being single.

My friends, they bother me - me being single. They always keep me advising that it is a lonely life when I have no husband and children to cling to when I get old. But the only problem is I don't wan tot find someone because I don't even have time for myself. What I am now, I am happy, satisfied and I am enjoying. What firms my belief is that if someone will cone, that is God's will. I am living it all to God for He knows what is best for me. I trust in His will. After all, time will come for that moment that I will be walking in the altar with the man God sets for me. So why should I bother being single until now? There is no time to worry because everything has its time.
