Bermuda Triangle

The Bermuda Triangle is a popular name for a triangular patch of the Atlantic Ocean off the southeast United States. There are claims that many ships and planes have disappeared or met with unexplained accidents in the area of the triangle.

People disagree about the exact area of the triangle. Some suggest that its corners are formed by Florida and the islands of Bermuda and Puerto Rico.

More than 50 ships and 20 planes are said to have vanished inside the triangle. This is far more than you might expect for an area this size. In one disaster, five American bombers disappeared together in 1945. Tales also tell of crews missing from boats found with hot meals aboard.

Writers blame the disappearances of underwater volcanoes, strange forces or death rays from space. But storms, human error and mechanical faults have caused the incidents.
