Koalas, Lone Pine Sanctuary, Queensland, Australia

The Lone Pine Sanctuary in Brisbane saves the Koala from extinction. Actually, the sanctuary;s success in breeding these animals in captivity is a triumph for conservation as others are constantly being released into parks and state forests. These lovable marsupial is mainly nocturnal, so his favorite pastime during the day is sleeping in the fork of a tree. On the other hand, if he should have the misfortune to be disturbed, he will peer down with a charmingly vacant expression at the intruder for a few minutes before settling deeper into the branches.
